Sometimes, there is not time to worry about any of it. If your friends are coming for a dinner party tonight, you need to put everything together fast. Ask guests to contribute their favorite appetizer and a few copies of the recipes if they’re willing to give it out. You’ll be surprised at the wonderful goodies. Just be certain there are a variety of different selections.

The key component to a dinner party is the menu. When company is arriving at the last minute, it helps to have basics already available. You might not have time to create a gourmet menu, but with classic food items, you can easily make a few no-fuss, yummy recipes. Things like pasta, rice, noodles, flour, sugar, olive oil and chicken stock are pantry basics to have on hand. In addition, it is always great to have additional items like yogurt, cheese, lemons, ground beef and chicken breast in the refrigerator or freezer.

Crafting the perfect guest list is like producing the recipe for a great party. You have to know how much of each personality and group of friends to blend for the optimum result. Invite at least two groups of friends who don’t know each other, but would get along easily. Make sure every person attending will know at least one or two other people at the party. Ask guests to bring significant others or guests so they will feel well-situated. It’s easier to mix when you already have a friend.
