| Labour Goof Up on Digital Facts |

Labour managed to ruffle up some feathers on its publication of the official election manifesto. It has promised to offer a minimum home broadband download speed of 2 Mb to all UK Homes by 2012 in keeping with its initial offer.
It is looking at accumulating a large number of votes to be successful in the forthcoming general elections. It is surprising that facts have been thrown to wind and small details ignore.
While 2 Mb speed is exciting, it also means that mew broadband packages will be able to offer speeds equal to over 16Mb. Is this a technical error or a simple goof up?
Internet service providers and consumers are leaving no stone unturned to point out this error and it has suddenly become a digital embarrassment.
With the election heat rising and the party campaigning overtime, it appears that the government is in a hurry to get things done fast. The House of Commons passed the Digital Economy Bill well within two hours of its presentation. This has created confusion over facts. It is a surprise that over 42 causes of the bill were considered, debated upon and decision arrived at in less than five minutes.
The question is whether the Labour is sure of what it is doing and has sufficient knowledge. With the Digital Economy Bill demanding some awareness of technology, the looming question is whether the Labour is yet to understand technology and is far behind the digital age.
