| Replace WiFi Hotspots with Mobile Broadband to Reduce Expenses |
| 02.27.10 | |
According to a recently released report, small businesses can cut down on their expenditures by making use of mobile broadband.
The report is based on a survey on techniques used by small businesses for saving money through use of technology, and has been brought out by telecoms analyst firm Analysys Mason. The conclusion reached at the end of the survey was that if small businesses use mobile broadband instead of WiFi hotspots they can save as much as two thousand pounds in a single year.
Statistics suggest that the smaller businesses spend as much as £700 on one employee making use of WiFi every year. As a contrast, mobile broadband can be used for £10 per month. The difference between the two is quite evident. It is also noteworthy that many service providers offer special packages that feature higher download capacity with standard technical support. These special business mobile broadband packages offered by a number of service providers including BT are generally coupled with better customer support as well. BT has introduced its free mobile broadband for companies with its business broadband package for sub-£30 per month (see also contract laptops).
The Principle Analyst at Analysys Mason, Steve Hilton, who is also credited with the authorship of the report, suggested that despite being a little slower, mobile broadband has a better reach and is more reliable than WiFi hotspots. He also pointed out that these smaller expenses on every employee add up to a total that can be taxing on smaller businesses. Using simple solutions like mobile broadband can help smaller business in the long run.
